For all of you iPhone users our there, what is not to love about the iPhone but the service that AT&T provides with it? In the Boulder, Colorado area especially, service can be hit or miss. So, after much thought I decided I'd give Verizon a try, specifically the new Droid X. Verizon is known for having great coverage but I'll admit I was apprehensive about giving up my new iPhone 4. I went in with an open mind though figuring Google knows their stuff. If plenty of other people could be happy with their Droids, why couldn't I?

I tried! I really did. Some aspects I liked better than the iPhone (like crystal clear calls) but the iPhone is way more than just a phone so call quality is not the only important thing to me. The Droid app selection was lacking, the battery life disappointing, and the operating system not as smooth...not to mention I think having to pay extra for visual voicemail is highway robbery. My wife tried the Droid X too but when pdfs wouldn't load and a favorite app kept crashing, that was a deal killer. She did like the screen resolution and how quick her email loaded compared to her iPhone 3 though.

Good thing we didn't cancel with AT&T during this trial. I think if we had never had the iPhones and went straight to a Droid, we'd be happy. But when you're used to Apple it's hard to be satisfied with anything else! Rumor has it that a new and improved operating system is on the horizon for the Droid phones soon, so I can't say I'll never make the switch but for now I'll happily put up with AT&T.
